You love your work.
Now others can feel it.
My job is to help the world see what you already are.
I make documentary video and build websites for people with a real craft, a genuine calling, or a mission worth sharing.
Real work. Real people. No performance required.
The best thing I can do for you is show the world exactly who you already are.
Three ways to work together.
Every project starts with a conversation — not about deliverables, but about what you're trying to do and who you're trying to reach.
I come from documentary work. That means I'm trained to listen before I shoot, to look for what's true before I decide how to frame it. Whether we're making video or building a website, the question is the same: what does someone need to understand about you in the first thirty seconds, and how do we make sure they feel it?
I'm not a production house. I work with a small number of people at a time, and I stay close to the work. Here's how we can work together.
Build
Web design and video produced together, from the same creative mind. For founders launching or relaunching who need a site that converts and a story that makes people believe before they ever make contact.
Engine
Ongoing documentary-style video — jobs in progress, expertise shared, the faces behind the business on camera consistently. Trust that builds across months and years, not just one campaign.
Reimagine
A focused web redesign for businesses that have an audience but a site that isn't converting. Strategy-first — built around what you want visitors to do, not just how it looks.
The work that
lives on social.
The best ongoing storytelling is consistent, honest, and made for where your audience already spends their time.
"Built for social, designed to compound."
Real people. Real work. Made visible.
These are people with something worth knowing about! A practice, a mission, a story that wasn't being told well enough. That's what we fixed.
Interview-driven short-form video introducing Max's teaching philosophy and personality to prospective students across social channels.
Documentary-style attorney profile video establishing credibility, empathy, and competence for prospective clients researching legal representation.
Full Squarespace site built to book gigs, grow an audience, and let the artist's personality lead every page.
Squarespace redesign for a filmmaker-turned-Instagram-strategist, built to funnel visitors toward a clear offer and book consultations.
I got into this because I genuinely love watching people do what they're made for.
I'm Chris Irr, a filmmaker and web designer based in Baltimore.
I've spent over twenty years making documentary work — in Boston, in LA, and in places I didn't expect to end up. I've filmed people on big stages and small ones. The subject matter has always changed. The thing I'm looking for never does — what makes this person tick, and how do I make sure someone watching actually feels it.
I started Recreational Aesthetics Club because I wanted to do this work on my own terms. Recreational, because it should feel like play. Aesthetics, because it still has to be beautiful. Club, because I don't want to do this alone — and I don't think you do either.
If any of this sounds like where you are, let's talk.
I do a free 30-minute call before anything else. Just a conversation to understand what you're working on and whether I'm the right person to help. Sometimes I am. Sometimes I'll tell you honestly if I'm not.
